Woke Presbyterian Church Uses ‘Pumpkin Spiced Communion’ to Draw in Visitors
As fall arrives in the Christian world, the occasional woke church and cringe congregation will advertise on their signs that they are serving pumpkin spice communion, which invariably ends up being just a gag or a way to get attention, such as the following congregations over the years.
Not so with Beacon Church in Philadelphia. An LGBTQ-affirming, recently chartered church of the Presbyterian Church (USA), Rev. Laura Colee has made it their mission to be relevant, and what better way than dressing up the body of Christ with a little cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg and cloves as a way of drawing in folks fascinated by the novelty of it all?
We contacted the ‘church’ to see if they were indeed serious, and they confirmed “We’ll be using a pumpkin-spiced brioche bread starting this Sunday throughout October.”
While it’s not as bad as the time that a Woke Church uses Skittles and Ice Tea for Communion Elements in Honor of Trayvon Martin’s Last Meal, it also isn’t much better.
