Voters Reject Wildly Unpopular Democrat Agenda
While not every result nationwide indicates a rejection of the Democrats’ socialist, command-and-control agenda, voters in Virginia, New York, New Jersey, and around the country voted Tuesday against a Biden administration and a divisive platform that remains historically unpopular.
In Virginia, voters elected Republican Glenn Younkin as governor. Younkin was virtually unknown earlier this year, yet campaigned directly on social and cultural issues such as removing Critical Race Theory from schools, parental control in the face of continuing COVID lockdowns, and damaging transgender capitulation that led to the sexual assault of a female student in a school bathroom and subsequent coverup by Loudoun County school administrators.
Virginians elected Winsome Sears as Lieutenant Governor. Sears is a first-generation Jamaican immigrant, Marine veteran, pro-Second Amendment Republican. She is the first black woman to win statewide office in Virginia, and represents a death blow to the “assault weapons” ban gun control advocates have been pursuing in the state. The state also saw a Republican elected as Attorney General and the state House turning red.
In reliably liberal New Jersey, Republican Jack Ciattarelli has battled incumbent governor Phil Murphy to a deadlock, with neither campaign declaring victory in a race long thought to be unwinnable for the Republicans. Reports of vote tally irregularities may very well lead to a recount or an investigation into ballot processing:
In Buffalo, New York, socialist mayoral candidate India Walton (who won the Democrat primary nomination) was defeated by incumbent Democrat mayor Byron Brown, whose write-in campaign roundly defeated the Walton despite her enjoying the endorsements of Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.), Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.), Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand (D-N.Y.), and Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.), signaling the relative unpopularity of socialism and radical progressivism even within Democrat strongholds.
School board elections around the country went to pro-parent, anti-mask candidates. South Lake, Texas, and Douglas County, Colorado saw precipitous turnarounds. Similar wins also occurred in Wichita, Kansas; Morganton, North Carolina; Ankeny, Iowa; Tredyffrin-Easttown School District in Pennsylvania, and many more.
Perhaps most importantly, citizens across the political spectrum took a much more active interest in the election process, making the kind of shenanigans the country saw in the 2020 election more difficult to hide.
Around the nation, voters rejected Democrat candidates, pushing back against the lack of choice, lack of parental control, and continued government intervention into the lives of the citizenry. Republicans now see a road map for electoral victory in Glenn Younkin’s direct confrontation of cultural issues and his insistence on going on offense against big government interests.
