Video! Dad Throws Himself in Front of Charging Bull to Protect Fallen Son
Some men are still men
With attacks on fatherhood and masculinity being unceasingly lobbed by garish feminists and toxic family-redefiners, a story coming out of Texas of a father jumping into a rodeo ring and protecting his unconscious son from a charging bull paints a picture of what the love of the father looks like in the willingness to lay down his life for his boy- a sign of true manliness.
Last month at the Bell County PRCA Rodeo, 18-year old Bull Rider Cody Hooks spent only seconds on the bull’s back before he was bucked off- knocked unconscious and falling to the ground. He told Southern Living: “[the bull’s] horn caught me behind the ear and jaw, so I don’t remember anything right before the chute opened.”
Completely vulnerable as bullfighters rushed to control and contain the beast, his father Landis jumped into the ring and threw his own body on top of his son as the bull lowered his head and began charging, readying to be gored or trampled if necessary to save his life.
Mercifully, the bull only clipped them a bit and sent them back a few feet before being distracted and led away by the rest of the hands.
Escaping with only minor injuries, Cody said that this wasn’t the first time his father had done this for him, but despite the scariness of it, it wasn’t going to dissuade him from pursuing his dreams.
“Don’t let that stop you. It’s going to happen, be ready for it, it’s coming. One day or another, you can’t get around it. You just got to bear down through it, you know. Don’t let go.”
