Musicians Cancel Montana Concerts over Inability to Enforce ‘All-Vaccinated Shows’, but the Scene Lives On
September 6, 2021
In what some dour pessimists are saying may be setting the stage for a long-familiar refrain, several bands have decided to cancel their shows in Montana over their inability to enforce audiences of only the vaccinated.
One such is the indie-pop band Tennis, which canceled their shows and posted on social media that because they cannot require proof of vaccine, they were unable to follow through with their commitments.
They further wrote on social media
“Due to statewide limitations on vaccine mandates, we are sadly forced to cancel our Montana shows. The health of our fans, band and crew are our first priority. We promise we will make it up to you as soon as we safely can. Refunds will be issued from your point of purchase.”
This is because the recently passed House Bill 702 prohibits discriminating based on one’s medical choice and vaccine status, a fact that this band could not abide by, despite they themselves being fully vaccinated and possessing an infinitesimally small likelihood of coming down from others except a high possibility of harm to themselves via the toxic “Covid Injection.”
But liberty-minded Montanans “Land of the Free and the Brave” won’t exchange a night of music for a lethal injection.
Another band that has canceled is Jeffrey Foucault, writing on social media:
Foucault told the Missoulian that HB 702 is a “backward piece of legislation” and that it “locates risk unfairly.” As a result, he believes the state will lose out on a lot of money and artists willing to come. Interestingly enough, he is putting on other shows that not only will require audience members to be vaccinated, but also wear masks the entire time- an unscientific gambit he calls “doing right” by his neighbors. He says.
One thing about people canceling shows, you’re not going to find out about the tours that get canceled. I just happen to be obnoxious enough that I wanted to make a point of drawing a straight line for the people who wanted to come to the shows between the behavior of the Legislature and the governor and the public policy impact on real people — clubs, waitstaff, gas stations, hotels, all the people all down the line, the sound guys, babysitters who don’t get paid — including me and my band.”But the truth is most performers tend to be politic enough that they’re not going to announce that they canceled dates. They just won’t announce that the dates were ever in planning,
These musicians, (as well as a few businesses) who thought they had it “licked” (but did not), wanted to slide into home base unchallenged. However, in came the hero, House Bill 702.
“Foucault had lined out September dates with public and private shows planned, including public ones in Great Falls at the Forde Nursery (an outdoor space), The Attic Montana in Livingston, and the Covellite Theater in Butte. They were arranged with a verbal agreement that he’d be able to require proof of vaccination or a negative test. He later realized that was no longer possible.”
For those “venues” listed above to just “presume” that Foucault could require “proof of vaccination” or a “negative test” was a big mistake and an illegal one. These businesses should be boycotted by all Montanans for such behavior.
It’s not all doom and gloom, however, despite the picture, several bands are painting. Modest Mouse, an act ten times bigger than both of those bands combined, played at the KettleHouse Amphitheater just a few weeks ago, the same with Death Cab for Cutie on Friday night.
Bands like Foreigner, Lindsey Sterling, Billy Strings, REO Speedwagon, NeedtoBreathe, and a host of others are slated to perform in the next few weeks, many with sold-out shows in major venues.
Clearly, the music scene is alive and well in Montana.

Rep. Barry Usher Challenges Yellowstone County Health Officer (Felton) over Law Banning Vaccine Discrimination-Most Vaccines Cannot be Enforced
September 6, 2021
Rep. Barry Usher, the member of the Montana House of Representatives representing District 40, (R) continues to be a vocal and outspoken supporter of bill 702, despite the heat he’s getting from Yellowstone County Health Officer John Felton.
House Bill 702 is unique in that Montana is the only state in the union that has passed a bill prohibiting vaccine discrimination and making it illegal for a company to force its employees to get vaccinated under threat of termination. At a time when tens of thousands of people and health care workers are being forced to quit their jobs in other states rather than violate their consciences, this is a godsend and likely the most important bill of the session.
This bill has naturally drawn the ire of Yellowstone County Health Officer John Felton, who has taken to the pages of KTVC to vent his concerns that this bill puts Montana in direct conflict with the CDC, and should never have been passed.
“It (Bill 702) takes away the best carrot we had to get people vaccinated. If we follow CDC guidelines we violate state law, and if we follow state law we’re violating CDC guidelines…the CDC tells us that a fully vaccinated person who is exposed so they’re not ill, they’re in close contact, those people do not need to quarantine. An unvaccinated person who has a close contact needs to quarantine. So that’s what the science tells us, and that could potentially be in conflict with the law.”
“Healthcare organizations have required hepatitis and MMR vaccines for years and years, and a number of places require influenza vaccine like we do,” Felton said. “But at this point, we can’t do any of these.”
This is a HUGE victory for freedom-minded Montanans! To not be forced anymore to receive vaccines against their will, employees are now able to exercise their right of ‘bodily autonomy’ a right declared to all Montanans under the Montana State Constitution.
The President of the Montana Medical Association, Dr. Pamela Cutler, was apocalyptic in her rhetoric about the possibility that some doctors and nurses may not want to get vaccinated.
“This is against everything we’ve ever known or believed about public health. I believe it’s a travesty now and it needs to be fixed so that we can make our offices safe for patients and our coworkers.”
House Bill 702 doesn’t only apply to COVID, but other vaccines as well. In some states, vaccinations are required to attend school, and Republican lawmakers are looking to safeguard against any possible discrimination in any form. Rep Usher explains:
“Before COVID even came around, this bill was already written because there were people who were being discriminated against…It’s one of the biggest bills we passed this session. It’s really about freedom of choice, and liberty rights.”
Based on his conviction, Usher continues to publicly respond to any articles critical of the bill, writing on Facebook:
It’s nice to see a politician stand behind his vote in such a public and pointed way, despite the criticism, and we applaud and thank Rep Usher for it.

Montana Joins 20 States in Suing Biden Admin to Stop LGBTQ Protection Madness
September 6, 2021
Montana Attorney General Austin Knudsen joined 20 other states, led by Tennesee Attorney General Herbert H. Slatery III, in filing a lawsuit seeking to stop the Biden Administration from enforcing “new, expansive, and unlawful interpretations of federal anti-discrimination laws” in regards to LGBTQ issues, and instead allow states to determine how to interpret and implement these new policies free of the threat of the federal government to withhold federal funding if they don’t toe the line.
This legal blitzkrieg from the red states is the result of the landmark 2020 Supreme Court ruling Bostock vs Clayton County, which ruled that federal law prohibits discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation and gender identity.
In a nutshell, Title IX of the Education Amendments Act of 1972 ensures that people can’t be discriminated against on the basis of sex in schools and educational settings that receive federal funding (as opposed to small private Christian schools). But because leftists love to destroy everything and corrupt our institutions, the laws were re-written so that whenever “sex” appears, it actually means “sex, gender identity, or sexual orientation” and making it a crime to discriminate based on someone being LGBTQQIP2SAA with all the implications that that entails.
Then became the dirty work. The Biden administration sicced the Department of Justice, the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), and the Department of Education on the schools, ensuring that if they wanted any of that federal money, especially in the midst of a pandemic, that they’d better play ball and not discriminate. If a boy wants to join a girls sports team and break every record in that school history, they better be allowed to do so, according to the guidelines issued by The Democratic Government. Here are some things Biden and his band of merry creepers want control over.
whether schools must allow biological males to compete on girls’ sports teams
whether employers and schools are allowed to maintain sex-separated showers and locker rooms
whether individuals may be compelled to use another person’s preferred pronouns.
Montana and other states aren’t having any of it. In a statement made to the Missoulian, Montana Department of Justice spokesperson Emilee Cantrell said:
“As with all the lawsuits filed against the federal government, Attorney General Knudsen is fighting the Biden administration’s overreaching actions that affect Montanans…Schools that do not follow this new and expansive guidance — that the Biden administration issued with no public notice or input — are being threatened with having their federal funding unlawfully withheld. Whether it’s defending existing state laws or going on offense against federal overreach, Attorney General Knudsen will fight the far-left’s attempts to force its anti-science ideology onto Montana students.”
Nebraska Governor Pete Ricketts, (one of the states that joined the fray) echoed this sentiment
The lawsuit argues that these agencies “have no authority to resolve those sensitive questions, let alone to do so by executive fiat without providing any opportunity for public participation.” AG Slattery said in a statement:
“This case is about two federal agencies changing law, which is Congress’ exclusive prerogative. The agencies simply do not have that authority. But that has not stopped them from trying. Even their attempts, as unlawful as they are, did not follow the Administrative Procedures Act.
States over and over again have challenged federal agencies on this issue and been successful. These agencies also have misconstrued the Supreme Court’s Bostock decision by claiming its prohibition of discrimination applies to locker rooms, showers, and bathrooms under Title IX and Title VII and biological men who identify as women competing in women’s sports, when the Supreme Court specifically said it was not deciding those issues in Bostock.
All of this, together with the threat of withholding educational funding in the midst of a pandemic, warrants this lawsuit.”g
Whatever may come of this; one thing is certain: Montana is going to fight it tooth and nail, and will put out all stops to ensure that the confused tendrils of Biden’s science-denying, biologically confused bullets ricochet off our state, particularly with the changing rooms. They better not even wonder if this is a hill we’ll die on, as there is a veritable moutain range before them.

A new Bible translation has been released, the ‘First Nations Version’ (FNV) and right away one thing is clear: this is an absolute trainwreck of a translation. This is because the FNV is not a word-for-word translation; rather, it is a thought-for-thought translation/ dynamic equivalent translation, which means it’s nothing more than a paraphrase, and not a particularly good one at that. It’s another entry into the long line of GistBibles. I.e it’s more or less the gist of what the scriptures say. For this reason, it cannot be considered a translation in any way, shape or form.
Released in the last few days, it’s selling too, either topping or being near the top of the charts for a few different categories on Amazon.
#1 in New Testament
#10 in Bible Meditations
#52 in Textbooks
Much like Eugene Peterson’s ‘The Message bible or the weird Bethel Passion Bible, the FNV was crafted by one man, Terry M. Wildman. Wildman is ordained as a United Methodist pastor, is of Ojibwe and Yaqui heritage, and for years he pastored the Northport Indian United Methodist Church in Michigan. That church is a UMC congregation, and we’ve written about that thoroughly apostate denomination and their shenanigans here- United Methodist Drag Queen Gets Star Treatment from Denomination’s Official News Service, and here- United Methodist Church Conservatives Forming New Denomination Amid Schism.
Wildman likewise has spent 20 years leading lead Rain Ministries, being one part of a ‘RainSong” duo that provides music and storytelling at Powwows, First Nations gatherings, churches and conferences. Along with being the director of the new paraphrase, he recently took on the role of Director of Spiritual Growth and Leadership Development for Native InterVarsity.
Not to say that he didn’t have some help with the translation.
“Besides the members of our council, many other First Nations people have had input into this translation as reviewers, cultural consultants, and community feedback participants. All in all, the tribal heritages represented include, but are not limited to, Apache, Assiniboine, Blackfeet, Cherokee, Choctaw, Creek, Desert Cahuilla, Cayuga, Diné (Navajo), Hopi, Kalispel, Kiowa, Klickitat, Lakota, Mohawk, Métis, Miami, Muscogee, Nez Perce, Northern Cree, Odawa, Ojibwe, Pawnee, Plains Cree, Potawatomi, Tlingit, Tohono O’odham, Western Cree, Yankton Sioux, Spokane, Wascoe, Yakama, and Yaqui. One council member said, “This sounds so Native that some people won’t believe it’s the Bible.”
The book itself is in English but filled with American Indian religious language, jargon, and terminology. This is concerning, as he frequently takes all the words and phrases that might be used in indigenous religious ceremonies, and then does one-for-one exchanges of expressions that have a built-in, loaded meaning and connotation. Wildman explains why he chose to have it in English rather than in a different language.
Ninety-five percent of Native people don’t speak their language. Of the ones who do, very few can actually read it. This is because of missionary efforts: While they were translating the Bible into our Native languages, they were also taking these languages away from us.
He elaborates on some of the distinctives in an interview with the CICW.
We also used words and concepts more relevant to a traditional Native worldview. “Temple” became “Sacred Lodge”; “sin” became “bad hearts” or “broken ways,” depending on the context. “Angel” became “spirit-messenger,” “apostle” became “message bearer,” Jesus becomes “Creator Sets Free” and “Christ” became “Chosen One.” These are only a few examples of our attempt to connect to the traditional way Natives first spoke in English. More than one Native elder has said, “You translate it into English the way we think it in our language.” A young Canadian Native told us that reading the FNV sounded like his grandpa telling stories at the breakfast table…
We translated the word for “church” as “Sacred Family” because of the more relational picture it paints of the body of Christ, which is very culturally important to Native peoples. We changed “bread” to “frybread” in a few places where it seemed appropriate. It took a while to settle on how to translate “kingdom of God” because of the EuroAmerican connotations of king and kingdom. The book Spirit and Resistance by American Indian theologian George E. Tinker helped us settle on translating “kingdom of God” as “Creator’s Good Road.”
He goes on to explain that along with ‘prayers’ being referred to as “sending his voice to the Great Spirit,” they kept the same name for God that American Indians use within their own non-Christian beliefs, calling him “the Creator and Great Spirit.”
Because there are so many Marys in the New Testament, they didn’t want to use the name, but rather tweaked it to designate which Mary is being spoken about. Jesus’ Mother became “Bitter Tears”, Mary Magdalene becomes “Strong Tears” and Mary the sister of Martha becomes “Healing Tears.” Wildman told Christian Post:
“We believe it’s very important that the Gospel be kind of decolonized and told in a Native way, but being accurate to the meaning of the original language and understanding that it’s a different culture,”
As far as what it sounds like, here is a sampling:
“The Great Spirit loves this world of human beings so deeply he gave us his Son – the only Son who fully represents him. All who trust in him and his way will not come to a bad end, but will have the life of the world to come that never fades away, full of beauty and harmony. Creator did not send his Son to decide against the people of this world, but to set them free from the worthless ways of the world.” John 3:16-17
Let’s look at 1 Corinthians 6: 9-11 in the ESV. Notice no condemnation of homosexuality “Or do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: neither the sexually immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor men who practice homosexuality, nor thieves, nor the greedy, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God. And such were some of you. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God.’
Romans 1:16-17. ESV “For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek. For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith for faith as it is written, “The righteous shall live by faith.”
Ens 3:1-6. ESV “For this reason I, Paul, a prisoner of Christ Jesus on behalf of you Gentiles— assuming that you have heard of the stewardship of God’s grace that was given to me for you, how the mystery was made known to me by revelation, as I have written briefly. When you read this, you can perceive my insight into the mystery of Christ, which was not made known to the sons of men in other generations as it has now been revealed to his holy apostles and prophets by the Spirit. This mystery is that the Gentiles are fellow heirs, members of the same body, and partakers of the promise in Christ Jesus through the gospel.”
Ultimately the First Nation Version catechizes using foreign concepts that are not biblical and which Jesus never intended to say. He frequently leaves out half the things the Holy Spirit meant to include, and includes half the things that never should have been there. This is not a bible translation and would be catastrophically flawed if viewed as such.
Bonus Bibley thoughts.
The reality is that people oftentimes don’t choose a Bible to know with precision what God actually said, but rather they choose it and use it for how it makes them feel when they read it. You see this all the time in pulpits. Pastors will throw up some notes on PowerPoint and they’ll have 5 different translations/paraphrases? Why use paraphrases like the Message Bible or the FNV? Because it words things in a way that the pastor finds compelling and gripping and in which he thinks the congregation will get a kick out of, picking and choosing his pretexts.
Its also because of the modernized language that avoids theological terms that have a rich depth to them, like justification and sanctification. “Justification” has become “asking Jesus into your heart” and “Sanctification” has become “Making better choice through life principles”.
The congregants go along with using these paraphrases because of familiarity, and consequently, it has ceased being important for a translation to accurately reflect what was being said historically and in context. It has ceased being important that Jesus’ words, meaning, and intent-without additions or interpolations- are immortalized and canonized.
It has become wholly acceptable to abuse and molest the original meaning because for some people, the intent isn’t to know what the original meaning is, but rather to develop an emotional response. And as long as that emotional response is brought on by something remotely bibley, they can interpret their feelings as a spiritual encounter, which is the source of their security, affirmation, and joy.
The pastors putting out these paraphrases are not doing it so that will have a cerebral or intellectual impact, but rather an emotive one. It’s not for maximum accuracy, but for maximal sentiment. That’s the thrust of the appeal- because warm fuzzies are an easier sell than rigorous faith fullness to the text. This is shameful, sad, and embarrassing on all levels possible.
So let’s call it for what it is- a sad testament to our modern-day churchy evangelical culture that values manipulation of the text for personal gratification, over fidelity to the text for corporate sanctification.

Satanic Temple May Be ‘Last Hope’ to Stop Texas Abortion Law. Seriously
It’s been a while since we’ve talked about The Satanic Temple (TST) Last we heard from them, they announced they were raffling a free abortion to promote the organization’s religious abortion ritual, while arguing that its members’ religious rights are exempt from any state laws or any regulations that might block access to abortion services during the first trimester.
Hailing from Salem, Massachusetts, the Satanic Temple describes its Satanic abortion ritual as a “spiritual experience designed to instill confidence and self-worth in accordance to TST’s religious beliefs.”
The organization contends those who practice the Satanic abortion ritual are exempt from being subjected to waiting periods, mandatory counseling, forced viewing of sonograms, and reading materials as required in many states. TST said in a press release.:
“TST bases its assertions of abortion mandate exemptions on the protections provided by State Religious Freedom Restoration Acts or RFRA, which generally prohibits the government from substantially interfering with a person’s free exercise of religion,”
The Satanic Temple claims their abortion ritual as practiced by its members is exempt from the existing abortion regulations on the basis of religious liberty. For this reason, they say all abortions by its members are religious acts of Satanism and protected under the ruling, and they have gone on the offensive.
According to Yahoo News, “They have has filed a letter with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) arguing that their members should be allowed to access abortion pills without regulatory action while using its status as a religious organization to claim its right to abortion as a faith-based right.
The group argues that they should have access to the abortion pills Misoprostol and Mifepristone for religious use through the Religious Freedom Restoration Act (RFRA) which was created to allow Native Americans access to peyote for religious rituals. Under these rules, the Temple is arguing that they should be granted those same rights to use abortifacients for their own religious purposes.” Temple co-founder Lucien Greaves said in a statement:
“I am sure Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton — who famously spends a good deal of his time composing press releases about Religious Liberty issues in other states — will be proud to see that Texas’s robust Religious Liberty laws, which he so vociferously champions, will prevent future Abortion Rituals from being interrupted by superfluous government restrictions meant only to shame and harass those seeking an abortion.”
