SBC Megachurch Pastor: ‘There is NO Credible Religious Argument Against the Vaccines’
Rev. Robert Jeffress, the pastor at the SBC Megachurch First Baptist Dallas, told the Associated Press in an email that he and his staff “are neither offering nor encouraging members to seek religious exemptions from the vaccine mandates” as demand from church-going folk surges for a religious exemption increases. Voicing his opinion that there is no biblical reason to not get one, he further explained:
There is no credible religious argument against the vaccines…Christians who are troubled by the use of a fetal cell line for the testing of the vaccines would also have to abstain from the use of Tylenol, Pepto Bismol, Ibuprofen, and other products that used the same cell line if they are sincere in their objection.
Robert has consistently urged his congregation to get vaccinated so they can safely worship, comparing the vaccination to a prolife position on Fox News a few months ago, where he said:
We talk about life inside the womb being a gift from God. Well, life outside the womb is a gift from God, too.

Hillsong Responds to 60 Minutes Sex-Scandal Exposé: Denies Everything
60 Minutes Australia has released an exposé detailing the alleged coverup and casual inaction the embattled, scandal-riddled Hillsong Church has had towards sexual abuse victims, painting a picture of an entity more interested in avoiding bad publicity than getting justice for the victims.
Much of the program revolves around the case of Anna Crenshaw, who we wrote about previously here. She was attending Hillson school when she was sexually assaulted by worship pastor Jason Mays. Hillsong took nearly 5 months to report it to the police, and only after her father, who is a pastor, allegedly complained.
Mays would later plead guilty to “assault with an act of indecency” in 2019. The sentenced carried two years of probation and mandatory counseling by the courts. Hillsong suspended Mays from ministry for one year but eventually welcomed him back, putting him in an administrative role in 2020 and having him sing on stage as a backup vocalist for church events.
His return to his old job, plus a dissatisfaction with the way Hillsong handled the abuse prompted Crenshaw to eventually quit the school.
They also did a segment on “Katherine” who said she was violently raped by a Hillsong member after a bible study and then reported it to a pastor, who wasn’t interested in hearing it. “He wouldn’t let me speak. I can’t breathe, I’m crying, I’m hysterical in front of this man.” After getting it all out, this pastor allegedly told her, “That’s not for my ears to hear. You go sort that out with him [the rapist].”
After her story came to light, Katherine says that Hillsong did reach out to her, but that she did not feel like they cared.
After I posted that I got contacted by Hillsong asking if I would sit down with them and have a chat about whatever it is that happened to me…they do not care at all about the fact that I was assaulted. They just care about who I’m going to tell or what I’m going to do about it, and how that will affect them…I want my abuser to never, ever, ever have the chance to be able to do that to another person again and I also want Hillsong and the pastor that I told to be held accountable for not doing anything about my abuse after being told that I was abused, and I want to make sure that they can never ever, ever hide anyone else’s abuse.
Hillsong, in a response to the piece, wrote that “The 60 Minutes story was factually wrong, sensationalized, unbalanced and highly unethical journalism…it was never their intention to do a balanced piece because they didn’t want to hear the truth. How sad that journalism in this country has stooped to this level.”
They explain that Jason Mays was given another opportunity to remain on staff because what he did was not *that* bad, and that they wanted to give him another chance.
The magistrate who chose not to record a conviction, asserted the ‘low level objective seriousness of the offence’ and acknowledged that it occurred in the presence of several other people who did not fully corroborate her version of the events. Jason was placed on a two-year good behaviour bond for ‘assault with act of indecency’ (not sexual assault), including stringent requirements that he has followed diligently.
As far as Katherine, they say they tried to reach out, but she has been completely uncooperative, limiting what they can and can’t do.
During the meeting, the person concerned was not forthcoming with all of the information. She made several allegations but refused to provide details of a date or name of the alleged perpetrator. She advised she had reported the matter to police, however, Hillsong also made a report to police as per our procedures. She made it very clear that for personal reasons she was not willing to take the matter further with police. We have made every effort to assist this individual and we continue to stand ready to assist. However, we cannot force someone to cooperate with us or police.

Apologist Josh McDowell Under Fire for ‘Racist’ Comments
9 hours ago Staff Writer
Author and Apologist Josh McDowell, perhaps best known for his book Evidence that Demands a Verdict, has come under fire for remarks he made at the American Association of Christian Counselors conference in Orlando, FL on Saturday. Speaking on the “Six Epidemics of the Church,” listing Critical Race theory as one, he then went on to say the following:
Everybody says blacks, whites, everybody has equal opportunity to make it in America. No they don’t, folks. I do not believe Blacks, African-Americans, and many other minorities have equal opportunity. Why? Most of them grew up in families where there is not a great emphasis on education, security – ‘you can do anything you want. You can change the world. If you work hard, you will make it!’
So many African-Americans don’t have those privileges like I was brought up with. My folks weren’t very rich, in fact, they were a poor farming family. But the way I was raised, I had advantages in life ingrained into me. ‘You can do it! Get your education! Get a job! Change the world!’
And that makes it different opportunities.
In response to the controversy, McDowell, who has been critical of CRT and social justice, responded by explaining that “my statement as quoted does not reflect my own beliefs” and apologized for “the implications they had.” He also offered a mea culpa for suggesting that “most minorities grew up in families where there is not a big emphasis on education and security” saying that his generalized statement “does not reflect reality.”
Despite his apology, the Twitteratti with their pitchforks are out in full force, decrying him as a racist and a man darkened by bigotry and hatred for black folk, telling him he needs to be re-educated with woke books.

Could They go Back to Jail? Alberta Pastors James Coates and Tim Stephens Face Renewed Persecution as they Defy Gov’t
With the news that the province of Alberta has reintroduced new restrictions on public gatherings, ones that previously had been lifted back in late July, Pastor James Coates of GraceLife Church and Pastor Tim Stephens of Fairview Baptist Church are likely to face renewed persecution from Alberta Health Services for their continued refusal to follow those terms, including disregarding the rules for their September 19th service.
Both pastors were arrested and jailed for their refusal to bend the knee and deny in word and in deed that Christ is head of the church, and He decides what worship will look like, not the government. When restrictions were lifted several months ago it was hoped that this would be the last of the persecution, but presently does not appear to be so.
Along with creating a two-tiered system in the province (fully vaccinated Albertans are limited to socializing indoors with one other household, whereas unvaccinated people are not allowed to attend any indoor social gatherings at all), the province has mandated three restrictions on churches, despite initially exempting them in early September.
Chuches are not allowed to gather indoors at more than 30% of their fire code capacity.
Masks are mandatory to be worn in church.
Mandatory physical distancing between households for both indoor and outdoor services.
Failing to adhere to these will result in fines and could even result in more jail time. During the Sunday service, GraceLife Church did not abide by any of the new restrictions, having a service of nearly 700 people, mostly unmasked and without social distancing.
The Church has grown by leaps and bounds since they refused to shut down during the lockdown, nearly doubling their size and having dozens upon dozens of people going through with completing membership classes. On account of their size, they are moving to a second service, particularly as the weather turns cold and winter sets in, and their overflow tents become unfeasible, with temperatures frequently dropping to -22 Fahrenheit (-30 Celsius) and colder.
Before the service began, several neighbors passersby stopped and took pictures of the gathered body, with the likely intention to report them to the authorities – an act that will certainly prompt a visit by AHS at their next service.
Pastor Coates elaborated on a bit of this uncertainty during the service, explaining:
Good morning everyone. I want to welcome you to GraceLife Church and invite you to come in and find a seat as we prepare to worship our Lord and Savior together. What a blessing it is to gather, to sing the praises of our great God and King.
As you know, we opted to remain with a single service this week. And we did that primarily for two reasons. One, with the uncertainty of what to expect this Sunday, we thought it might be just nice to keep things predictable for all of you and make it a little more comfortable as it were to be here today.
And also, we’ve got a number of ministries that just aren’t quite yet ready to do double duty as it relates to two services and so we wanted to give them a little more time to work that out. Now, by this point, you know, the drill that we’re going to be taking things one week at a time. And so you have to just bear with us as we give thought and consideration to how to navigate the future.
But you need to know that we are committed to moving to two services, we really think that is necessary and beneficial for the health of our body and even to just improve what happens on a Sunday and the fellowship that takes place, and maybe even facilitating more fellowship because we’re gonna be able to stagger the number of folks that are here at one time, so we’re still committed to that. But obviously, whether or not it comes to fruition, is in the Lord’s hands and we’ll keep you abreast of that as things grow and develop.
As for Fairview, they are in a very similar boat, having also grown so much so that they have outgrown their church building and are meeting at another church in order to accommodate all the people, which they also did unmasked and without social distancing.
Pray for these pastors, and others like them who have the courage to stand.
