Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene Blasphemously Compares Donald Trump to Jesus Christ

On the day of former President Donald J. Trump’s arraignment in New York City for his alleged role in hush money payments to adult film actress Stormy Daniels, Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene decided it was a good idea to compare the embattled former president to our good God and Savior.
While it’s true that Trump is the victim of an unjust New York City judicial system intent on arresting him no matter how badly it damages their already nonexistent credibility, Representative Greene crossed the line between supporting a man targeted by leftists and blasphemously comparing him to the Son of God.
Greene was in New York City Tuesday morning and gave an interview with Right Side Broadcasting in which she said, “Trump is joining some of the most incredible people in history being arrested today. Nelson Mandela was arrested and served time in prison. Jesus – Jesus was arrested and murdered by the Roman government.”
Not even a bit. To quote Samuel Sey:
Many will likely brush aside Greene’s comments or complain about others pointing it out, but it speaks to a larger issue. Some politically active professing Christians have looked to Trump as their savior when they should understand that there is but one Savior – the Lord Jesus Christ.
One of the most egregious examples occurred at the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) two years ago when a group brought a gold-plated statue of the former president to the event. It was eerily reminiscent of the incident with the golden calf described in Exodus 32. Some people even took photos of themselves bowing down in mock worship to the golden Trump. One could assume they were joking, but it still is not a position any Christian should put himself in, jokingly or not.
Trump did many good things during his presidency – the greatest among them being appointing conservative Supreme Court Justices who eventually overturned Roe v. Wade, which prayerfully will save untold numbers of infant lives. He was a much better president in terms of promoting morality and justice in government than either his predecessor or the demented puppet currently occupying the office. However, he was also a man with many, many, many faults.
Some trust in chariots and some in horses, but we trust in the name of the Lord our God. When that trust gets inverted, things get strange really quick, as seen in Pastor Excoriates Voters For Considering Choosing DeSantis Over Trump: “Shame on You! Trump is God’s Hand” and MAGA Pastor Says Trump is ‘Under Demonic Attack’ After Raid on Mar-a-Lago because Satan’ Fears Him the Most’
Greene’s comments are inexcusable and ought to rightly be repudiated, lest we get more nonsense like this which, for the record, is not even a little bit interesting.
