Northwest MT: Hockaday Cherry Orchard Hard Hit by Hail
Please pray for the company and employees
Yesterday Hockaday Orchards, located on the West of Flathead Lake, shared that they suffered the loss of their cherries and, therefore, won’t be opening this year. In a gracious move, they urged cherry lovers to purchase the wonderful fruit from the untouched cherries on the East Shore, where the hail did not hit. Hockaday Orchards are just outside of Lakeside Mt.
“We’ve been waiting to post, hoping that our small crop would turn out some big cherries, and then we could announce an opening date. Unfortunately, last night, we suffered catastrophic hail damage that obliterated the crop that we did have. The hail lasted over 10 minutes and sheared leaves and cherries right off the trees. The cherries that remained were badly damaged. We are sad to announce we will not be opening this year. Please support orchards on the East Shore of Flathead Lake. We are hoping they have a better crop and didn’t suffer the damage. Best wishes to all of you, and we hope to see you in 2023! Have a great summer!
