Local Christian Businesses Throw Joyous Block Party To Commemorate Fall of Roe v. Wade
An estimated 350 people gathered together on Monday to commemorate and celebrate the overturning of Roe v Wade exactly two years ago, enjoying an afternoon of free food, singing, fellowship, and speeches while nearby counterprotesters raged from the side.
The Life Day Block Party in Moscow, Idaho, was organized by RedBalloon and Bohnet Music Academy, two local businesses with connections to Doug Wilson’s Christ Church.
With a tagline of “Goodbye Roe,” the event recalls an answer to prayer fifty years in the making, when on May 2, 2022, Politico published a leaked draft of the Supreme Court majority decision in Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization. The lak revealed their intent to overturn Roe v. Wade, which was made official on June 24, 2022, exactly two years to the day.
Daniel Fouchachon, whose businesses Roman Road Press and Kepler Education also participated and co-sponsored the event, wrote on X “We sang, we ate hundreds of hotdogs and cookies and gallons of ice cream and watermelon and popsicles and PB&Js and more!” while praising the participants:
Meanwhile, a small contingency of about 30 dour pro-choice counterprotesters gathered nearby, seeking to crash the party and quench the reveler’s joy while failing spectacularly at it. (photos by August Frank/ @augustfrankphoto)
