Ex-Drummer of Christian Rock Band Dies In Plane Crash
The former drummer for a prominent ‘Christian’ rock’ band passed away on Thursday when a private plane he was aboard crashed in the Murphy Canyon neighborhood of San Diego. The crash claimed the lives of all passengers onboard.
Daniel Williams, 39, was best known for his over decade-long tenure with the Christian metalcore band The Devil Wears Prada, where he performed until his departure in 2016. Notably, the band no longer markets itself as a Christian band and most members (all members?) say they are no longer believers.
It is unclear what Williams believed and to what degree he still professed faith.
Hours before the fatal crash, Williams shared a photo on Instagram from inside the plane’s cockpit, captioned, “I’m the co-pilot now” and “Let’s go.”
Williams’ life was marked by another brush with tragedy five years prior. In 2019, he was present at Ned Pepper’s Bar in Dayton, Ohio, during a mass shooting that killed nine people and injured 27 others.
The cause of the plane crash is under investigation, and authorities have not yet released further details.
