Dozen Congregants Swarm ‘Unmasked’ Man in Church; Forcibly Remove Him
The incident, which took place at St. Frances Cabrini Parish in Lakewood, Wa, is being framed on social media as a mask/ vs unmasked thing,
A viral video going around featuring a church evicting a maskless man in the congregation is being taken out of context, according to the church where the event took place.
The incident, which took place at St. Frances Cabrini Parish in Lakewood, Wa, is being framed on social media as a mask/ vs unmasked thing, which headlines reading “Maskless worshipper dragged from church by masked-up congregation.” or captions saying ‘A Priest incites churchgoers to violently remove a man from the church because he isn’t wearing a mask. It’s like a scene from a zombie movie and truly horrifying. Would his god really want this? #NoVaccinePassports #Covid_19“
In reality, it had nothing to do with his masked status, but everything to do with his history with the church. Kiro7, the local station handling the story, gained access to a letter the Priest Paul Brunet wrote to congregants, explaining the incident and giving context.
“The events leading up to this unfortunate incident began last month. After an initial pastoral appointment with (name redacted), his behavior has worsened and become less predictable. He has engaged in a course of abusive and threatening conduct, directed not just at me but towards the parish and school staff. Under the circumstances, the parish and school had no other choice but to obtain a ‘No Trespass’ order from the Lakewood Police Department against (name redacted). He chose to disregard this order when he appeared at Mass yesterday.”
“The safety of the children, parishioners and staff are our top priority. The parish and school are working closely with the Lakewood Police department, the Lakewood City Attorney and private security to maintain extra safety precautions. Please join me in praying for all who were involved in or witnessed this incident and be assured of my prayers for all of you.”
