Did This Charismatic Prophet Prophesy the Death of Pat Robertson? You Decide
Charlie Shamp is an evangelist and ‘prophet’ who claims to have supernatural abilities and insights from God. He is the founder and president of Destiny Encounters International, a ministry that aims to bring “revival and reformation to the nations,” as well as a media personality who has appeared on the who’s who of theologically bankrupt platforms, such as Sid Roth’s It’s Supernatural, Elijah List, and Charisma Magazine.
Shamp’s ministry is characterized by his extensive controversial prophecies, which he says are revealed to him by the ‘Holy Spirit.’ He claims to have predicted events such as the 2016 US presidential election, the Brexit vote, the coronavirus pandemic, and the 2020 US presidential election. He also claims to have performed miracles such as healing the sick, raising the dead, and multiplying food- but none of this was ever caught on camera.
He says that he operates in the “seer” anointing, which enables him to see visions and angels, but as one website has cataloged, he’s left a trail of false prophecies in his wake, including a ‘thus sayeth the Lord’ that Republicans would carry the House and Senate in the 2018 midterms, which they never did.
Now appearing with Steve Shultz, both men marvel and claim that Shamp prophecied the death of Pat Robertson 10 days before, but their specificity leaves much to be desired.
“I see the passing of another General. And the Lord says that I’m passing on the mantle. This passing shall mark a releasing of an army that will march in the nations of the earth with the fire of God. There’s a passing of the torch tonight.”
Because these so-called prophecies have no end dates, a famous Christian could die ten days or ten months from now, and Shamp would capitalize on whatever death he could find as a fulfillment- whether it be a false teacher like Robertson or even ‘General’ as a concept or event, and claim it for himself. Also the rest of the thing makes no sense; why does the mantle/torch get passed on if he hadn’t died yet? Who is this army?
And charismatics wonder why we roll their eyes at them. This is just pathetic.
