Beth Moore addresses a summit on sexual abuse and misconduct at Wheaton College, Dec. 13, 2018, in Wheaton, Ill. Bible study teacher Beth Moore has been beloved among Southern Baptists for years, packing out stadiums and selling millions of books. But when Moore began to criticize Trump and call out sexism, racism, and abuse in the church, she became a pariah. Now Moore has left the nation’s largest Protestant denomination, saying she can no longer identify as Southern Baptist. (Emily McFarlan Miller/Religion News Service via AP)
Former SBC lightning rod, Lifeway cash cow, and bane of biblical discerners everywhere, Beth Moore, shared a message on X urging “SBC disapproving brother” to leave her alone, telling them it’s time to “move on” now that she’s left.
The message, which she quickly deleted, comes on the heels of another where she declares her love for SBC women and expresses sorrow that she had to leave when she left the convention.
Of course, her insistence that they leave her alone comes only in the context of Moore repeatedly commenting on SBC business, chumming up the waters with her colorful commentary
Four months ago, she slammed Mike Law for releasing a list of 170 SBC churches that have women serving as “pastors,” saying that the goal of this doxing is to make the enemy “reachable” because Law wants the women “attacked” so that they “learn their lesson.” This is despite the fact that there was nothing doxxing about it at all, and instead contained publicly available information posted to the church’s website showing the name and picture of the person in question. I.e., a screenshot from the ‘about us’ staff page.
Moore wants the SBC menfolk to leave her alone, but she also just returned from her book tour, where criticisms of her former denomination were par for the course. This was after she joined Russell Moore for a night of discussion, where she insisted the pulpit within the SBC had become a ‘threat to women,’ after she labeled her entire denomination racist, saying they don’t want black people in power positions, and after she insisted that all the southern baptists that were ‘sexist’ towards her were also likely racist as well.
If Beth Moore wants the SBC to leave her alone, she should try leaving them alone first.
In a war of words, she will always lose because she fights against the written word of God. As a Christian teaching the Bible, you would think she would understand that. But maybe she is not...
